classes in the morning. (i got a 92 on monday's statics exam, i completely messed up one of the problems, but made the same number of points back in extra credit, the other eight points were stupid mistakes.) and then i pretty much spent the rest of the day in the studio. short break for lunch. short break for dinner.

i don't think i was quite as productive as i could have been, but i was more focused than i have been in quite a while. worked out some problems with my design. drew everything out in a semi-presentational format.

i hate doing presentation drawings. at the end of every project so far, the drawings that i've looked back on and liked were my process sketches on trace. it seems to have become my strongest working method to use layer after layer of trace to work out problems, test out new ideas, etc. to scale, but freehand (often working with a grid to line things up and draw more or less straight lines). when i get to the final phases of a project and have to start thinking about what i'm going to show, the conventional wisdom is that drawings have to be on vellum, measured, hard-line, etc, etc. and my drawings on vellum just look stale and boring and sparse, and pretty much wholly uninteresting.

so i did do some drawings on vellum, but i tried to keep some of the feel of my process drawings. i was almost happy with them when i left the studio at six in the morning to get two hours of sleep.

a couple of emails from cybèle when i got home. she had seen bits of my website, as far as i know, the first person at risd to do so. and actually, it felt kinda nice. i felt a little less disconnected.
