called mom to wish her a happy birthday. she had just emailed aaron to tell him that he was the only one who remembered, but i wouldn't forget my mom's birthday. didn't send a card or anything, but i haven't sent too many cards at all in recent years. i keep telling myself i should start..

we drove out to dayton this evening. we ate at a thai restaurant, which according to the only vegetarian restaurant in dayton, which only has one vegan entree, is the best vegan place to eat. and it was very good. there was a whole lot to choose from. i had a holy basil stir-fry. i love thai basil. and for desert, they made their own coconut milk ice cream. i can't believe i've never seen it anywhere else. it was amazing. someone should really market the stuff.

and then we went to see carrot top. (his mother's birthday is also today, coincidentally enough. although this whole trip has been filled with little coincidental references. the day before we left, george told sam that with a hat on, and his hair all sticking out, he looked like carrot top. on the plane sam quoted from an episode of the simpsons, and that very episode was on that evening when we arrived in ohio. and three or four other little things like these that i've now forgotten.) but anyway, he's a pretty funny guy, i don't think i've ever been to a comedy show before. was figuring that i might see some other risd kids there, as i haven't run into any yet on this trip, and that seems to be the pattern. but i didn't.
