i tried to do my structures homework last night but realized that i didn't have the presence of mind to really get it accomplished. worked on it some more this morning. it seemed to just go on forever. found out in class that the whole second part of it was simply extra credit. would have saved myself some aggravation had i known that beforehand. but it didn't hurt me to do a couple extra problems either.

i was still lacking in my motivation to do studio work today. having another week or so has taken the stress off, but it won't help if i don't actually get around to really working until another day or two before the new deadline. with that in mind, and the fact that i didn't want to walk home in the pouring rain, i managed to stay in studio until about midnight. but didn't get a whole lot done other than some computer massing models from which i plan to draw perspectives.

which sort of feels like cheating. it almost seems that if you are going to draw perspectives you should be embracing the computer's output or else constructing them by hand. but really why should you? it takes half an hour to make a massing model on the computer, which you can then view and print from any angle. and then trace freehand, if that is what will fit with the feel of the rest of yr drawings. if you were constructing perspectives, each drawing would take hours. lots of hours. and if the eventual product is freehanded line drawings in ink they'd have to be traces anyway.

but still. i think i might spend some of my time in rome drawing constructed perspectives. all in all it's a pretty useless skill. but i think it would be fun if i had the time to devote to it.
