yesterday everyone was talking about how much they loved bologna and could have spent a semester there and i had the completely opposite reaction. but verona is so damn nice. even with all the tourists. i just get a very warm and comfortable feeling from the city.
of course i had trouble finding vegan food for lunch again. but i saw a lot of the city in the process. before that, a twelfth century church and the museo di castelvecchio, and old fort that was renovated as a museum in the 1950s by carlo scarpa. the first real modern architecture that i've gotten to see up close in italy.
and this afternoon, which was free, i want to see a show of edvard munch's work, which was pretty cool, in a museum of contemporary art that also had some very neat new acquisitions on display. and then a small show of minimalist works, of which i'm a huge fan. it was only about a dozen pieces, but was so worth it. james turrell's "night passage" would have been worth the ticket price itself.
