bean is not actually from antarctica. his heart is covered in paisleys.

he makes tiny little pictures and sometimes writes about his life.

I called Chris at about noon. 'What happened last Saturday?' he asked.

'I was going to ask you the same thing.' The story of which can be seen as a postscript to last Saturday's entry.

We got brunch at Kate's. Our waitress asked me for the first time (out of four or five times over the last few months) if I wanted to know what was in the tofu omelet of the day when I ordered it. 'No, the surprise is part of the fun,' I said. (It was tomatoes, artichoke hearts, and if there was a third ingredient there wasn't a whole lot of it.)

I went into work for the better part of the afternoon, and then out to the Crater, for Adam's end of summer barbecue / party / nine band / circus acts / all you can eat and drink for $5 extravaganza. And it wasn't the same RISD crowd that in two summers of barbecues it's mostly been, which although Chris had opined that it would be interesting to meet some new people, a lot of the RISD kids didn't show up at all, which was a little sad, as these parties are one of the few times that I'm likely to see some of them, being as they are on the outer rungs of my social circle. Which is a long way of saying that I didn't really know too many of the people there.

But it was nice to see the people who where there, and like last night I drank quite a lot of beer, and had a pretty good time, and managed to squeak home before the sun came up.
