The first three days that I was scheduled to work at PDG were yesterday, Sunday, and Monday. I had thought about stopping in this afternoon to do an hour or two of work, but wasn't really sure if I'd have the motivation. Beatrice called about 11 and asked if I was coming in, as there was about three hours of research work for an NBC News project.
So I had an unexpected half day this afternoon. If this sort of thing keeps up I should be able to make that half-time quota. And hopefully more.
I got MySpace mail today from the girl who sent a note through her friend last week. I had asked him to pass the message on to her that I was sorry I missed her, but would like another shot at the awkward conversation that she suggested as a possible outcome of our meeting. Her original note had a drawing of the two of us (as stick figures) having such a conversation. 'I like goats,' she says.
My response, 'Me too.'
'Ok. Bye.' She has signed up for a MySpace account, and her message to me today was entitled 'awkward conversation', and was one line: 'i lied about the goats'.
None of my friends showed up to sushi night. Again. Chris was up to something with Becky (the girl he made out with at Dave.Z's going away party two and a half months ago). I didn't really catch what, there was a lot of background noise. He said he might stop by later, but didn't. Julia never got back to me. Paolo didn't call, but he told me earlier in the week that he was up against some big deadlines and didn't know if he'd have the time. I didn't go out of my way to invite anyone else. I did post a note on Friendster this time around, but if had really been after guests would have had to follow that up with phone calls.
Things ended up pretty hopping anyway, with Rob and Dan's friends. Not as many as expected, but still, including us, nine or ten. And later, on the roof, there was a live band playing on the roof of the building next door, which was nice.
